Prof. Cheng Fucai: Deputy Director of the Institute
Professor Cheng got his PhD from the University of Hong Kong. He is also the executive deputy director of the Institute of Youth and Juvenile Studies at SASS. He specializes in child welfare study, social policy study and Non-government organization study. He obtained two National Philosophy and Social Science Funding for the Study of Social Inclusion of Street Children (2008) and A Study of the National System for Vulnerable Child Protection (2015). He has been invited to conduct several research projects on child welfare and social policies by the central and local governments of China. He received the Endeavor Australian Cheung Kong Award in 2007, and Zhang Zhongli Academic Award by Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in 2012. His book, an ethnographic study of the street children in Shanghai China, won the First Prize of the Tenth Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Award. He actively participates into community services. Currently, he is a member of Chinese Association of Sociology, and a member of the Shanghai Sociological Association. He is also a consultant expert on population decision-making for the Shanghai Municipal Government, and a consultant expert on child development for the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council.
